The Inland Empire 66ers defeated the Lake Elsinore Storm, 2-1, at San Manuel Stadium.
Up first at bat for Inland Empire, Jahmai Jones homers on a fly ball to left field for a 1-0 game.
Kyle Overstreet scored on a throwing error by pitcher Sean Isaac to tie the game in the seventh. The 66ers quickly took back the lead with Jake Yacinich’s single that brought in Derek Jenkins from second.
Sam Holland (1-0) tossed two innings for IE (54-63), striking out one while Joe Gatto pitched the first six innings and allowed three hits and struck out three.
Emmanuel Ramirez pitched six innings for the Storm (55-62), striking out eight. David Bednar (0-2) struck out one in one inning.
Nuts 11, Quakes 0>>
The Rancho Cucamonga Quakes fell to the Modesto Nuts in a road game.
In the first, Modesto’s Jordan Cowan triples and scores on a Eric Filia grounder. The Nuts took a 5-0 lead in the second with a Arturo Nieto RBI and three more runs off of Cowan’s sac fly.
Logan Taylor had a two-run double in the fourth, followed by Gianfranco Wawoe’s three-run triple and Filia’s RBI in the seventh for an 11-0 lead.
