Local leader Ed Stevenson passes, leaves legacy – Arkansas News

Many community members are remembering the life and contributions of Edward (Ed) Wallis Stevenson, 80, who passed away August 1 at his home in Mena, after a full life in Polk County.

Friend and professional associate Phillip Hensley said he is grateful for the wisdom and close relationship he had with Stevenson.

“Ed has known me all my life,” Hensley said, noting his father and Stevenson served on bank boards together, including First National Bank in the 60s and 70s before Union Bank was brought in the late 70s.

“He was a great guy to work for and very supportive,” Hensley said.  “He was truly a Polk County man. He always had the best interest for Mena and surrounding areas. His main goal was to take care of our own,” Hensley continued. “He was a great leader.”
