8 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 9: Incident command is reporting that the Minerva Fire is now 91 percent contained, stands at 4, 310 acres and has 1,039 personnel assigned to the fire. Mop-up activities (putting out the hot spots) and strengthening containment lines remain the priorities. This is important because the fire continues to creep along the ground, smoldering, with the potential to reignite when it reaches unburned timber. There is the possibility for afternoon thunderstorms; and there continues to be a health advisory for particulates in the air.
