Cherokee County Sheriff Jeff Shaver said a New York man convicted of a sex offense was arrested Tuesday for failing to comply with the Alabama Sex Offender Registration Act.
The sheriff’s office received information that the man, Patrick E. Sullivan, 30, of Albany, New York, was living at a Leesburg residence and had not complied with the law. Authorities verified the conviction with New York authorities and took Sullivan into custody.
He is in the Cherokee County Detention Center awaiting bond on the SORNA violation.
