Sands to take over continuation school – California News

JOSHUA TREE — If there is one word to describe how Jennifer Sands is feeling for this upcoming school year, it’s “excited.” Sands is the new principal of Black Rock High School, replacing Vonda Viland, who led the continuation school for 15 years, working both at Monument and Black Rock high schools.

Sands has deep roots in the Morongo Unified School District; she graduated from Yucca Valley High School and has spent her career in the district.

She taught kindergarten, then was principal at Twentynine Palms Junior High School for a year and then principal at Friendly Hills Elementary School for seven years.

“I am excited to help more students graduate,” Sands said. “I want to see how many we can get to graduate.”
