There were 73 bookings at the San Joaquin County Jail in the 24 hours ending at 8 a.m. Friday. At that time, there were 1,370 people held at the jail, which has an official capacity of 1,665. When the jail is full, some inmates may be released early.
Stolen auto arrest: An occupied stolen vehicle was found in the 200 block of North Center Street about 2:44 p.m. Thursday and the driver ran away after officers made a traffic stop. Police used a stun gun on the driver, George Casillas, to take him into custody. Casillas, 37, received medical treatment prior to booking and was arrested on suspicion of auto theft, possession of a controlled substance, resisting arrest and numerous stolen auto charges.
Stolen auto arrest: Richard Martinez fled from police after a traffic stop in the area of Fremont and Harrison streets at about 4:53 p.m. Thursday and ran toward Stockton Ballpark. Martinez, 27, refused to comply with authorities and a stun gun was used to take him into custody without further incident. Martinez was arrested on suspicion of auto theft and for resisting arrest.
Robbery: Two men were approached by a robber with a semi-automatic handgun at 8:15 p.m. Thursday in the 1300 block of Princess Drive demanding property. The victims handed over the property and the robber ran away. The robber is described as a Latino man, 17-18 years old, 5 foot 4, 130 pounds with short black hair and was last seen wearing a white tank top and baggy ripped jeans with black basketball shorts underneath. He was armed with a black handgun.
