BBQ and Livestock Sale Saturday supports Moffat County 4-H and FFA youth – Colorado News

Bring your appetites and your wallet to this year’s Moffat County Fair Buyers BBQ and Livestock sale happening at the fair grounds Saturday evening.

The sale marks the culmination of months of work by area youth. The sale allows them to showcase their hard work and provide consumers with high quality food products. The 66-year-old tradition starts with the buyers BBQ, then 4-H and FFA awards ceremony and the live auction.

Registered buyers will have an opportunity to bid on animals during the live auction with large animals are sold, by the pound, to the highest bidder. Small animals are sold to the highest bidder by the lot or pen.

Arrangements are made after the sale to take the animal/s to the processing plant of the winners’ choice. Winners must contact the plant for cutting instructions, pickup of packaged meat and payment options.

Winning bidders may opt to participate in the buy-back program or donated processed meat to a non-profit organization of their choice.

Money from the sale goes to youth exhibitors. They use proceeds to cover expenses incurred for their projects, to prepare for next years project and/or to help with the cost of college and other career opportunities.
