FORT MYERS, Fla. (AP) — Tanner English hit a sacrifice fly and drove in Jaylin Davis with the winning run in the seventh inning, as the Fort Myers Miracle defeated the Dunedin Blue Jays 1-0 in the second game of a doubleheader on Friday.
Davis scored the game-winning run after he led off the inning with a single and advanced to third on a single by Nelson Molina.
Fort Myers starter Sean Poppen struck out five and walked one while allowing one hit over six scoreless innings. Andrew Vasquez (2-0) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Dunedin starter Conor Fisk (7-10) took the loss in the Florida State League game.
The Blue Jays were blanked for the 13th time this season, while the Miracle’s staff recorded their 11th shutout of the year.
The Miracle swept both games of the doubleheader after winning the first game 6-4.
