Minimum of 8 seats to be contested in November election – California News

Friday was the official deadline for the filing period for candidates in 12 boards for cities, schools or special districts and at least eight seats will be contested in four different districts.

The main race for this fall involves Brawley City Council where Mayor Sam Couchman and Mayor pro tem Helen Noriega’s terms expire at the end of the year. Both candidates officially filed for reelection and in addition will be challenged by Organizer for the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers Local 569 members Ramon Castro and Luck Hamby. The top two vote receivers will get elected.
