Ian Casey, born and raised in Truckee, CA passed on to new adventures full of love and light on the night of July 29, 2017. He died at home in Oakland, CA. Ian, age 30, left us all too soon and will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
Ian was a 2005 graduate of Truckee High, where he played on the golf and championship football teams. He graduated from California Polytechnic State University, San Luis Obispo in 2010 with a degree in Landscape Architecture. Ian subsequently worked as a Project Engineer with McGuire & Hester in Oakland, CA, a job he greatly enjoyed.
Ian valued and continued to maintain the many friendships he had formed in Truckee, including friends from as early as elementary school, through high school, college and work. Ian was a loyal friend, who had a big smile, love for art, music, softball, comedy and socializing. He experienced countless fun times with a variety of amazing friends. Ian was the perfect companion for life’s adventures. He enjoyed traveling, hiking, camping, and meeting new people. Ian lived life with a sweet and full heart.
Ian’s passing is a devastating shock. He was the best brother, son and friend anyone could ask for. He is survived by his father Skip Casey, his mother Sandy Casey and sister Katherine Casey. We are so proud of his life and accomplishments. He will always be loved and always be missed.
A Celebration of Life will be held at the Truckee River Regional Park, in the Lower River BBQ area beyond the ball field, located at 10500 Brockway Road, Truckee, CA 96161 on September 10, 2017 from 11:00am to 3:00 p.m. Please join us and share stories in remembrance of Ian.
