ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — Elvis Escobar hit a walk-off single, as the Altoona Curve defeated the Trenton Thunder 3-2 in the first game of a doubleheader on Saturday.
Wyatt Mathisen scored the game-winning run after he led off the inning with a triple.
The Thunder tied the game 2-2 in the top of the sixth when Ryan McBroom hit a two-run single.
Altoona starter Mitch Keller struck out nine while allowing two runs and five hits over six innings. Luis Heredia (3-3) got the win with a scoreless inning in relief while Trenton starter Dillon Tate (0-1) took the loss in the Eastern League game.
Jeff Hendrix doubled and singled, also stealing a base for the Thunder.
