Rebuilt Hemet Elementary School — the city’s eldest — pays tribute to old school – Press Enterprise – California News

The reopening of Hemet Elementary School on Monday, Aug. 7 was much different than when the school first opened 90 years ago — or even when it closed in 2009.

The city’s oldest school has been torn down and rebuilt, bringing a look of yesterday with the technology of today.

“I was blown away,” Hemet Unified School District Trustee Stacey Bailey said of the school, which she attended as a child in the 1960s. “I’m so incredibly touched that they were so thoughtful and they tried to do an homage to the old school.”
