MONTGOMERY, Ala. (AP) — Andrew Velazquez homered and had two hits as the Montgomery Biscuits beat the Jackson Generals 8-5 on Saturday.
Trailing 3-0 in the third, Jackson tied it up when it put up three runs, including a single by Kevin Cron that scored Emilio Bonifacio.
After Montgomery added a run in the fourth on a single by Cade Gotta, the Biscuits extended their lead in the fifth inning when Dalton Kelly hit an RBI single and then scored on a two-run double by Brett Sullivan.
The Biscuits tacked on another run in the eighth when Velazquez scored on a double play.
Montgomery right-hander Benton Moss (3-3) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing five runs on five hits over six innings. Opposing starter Brad Keller (8-9) took the loss in the Southern League game after a rough outing in which he allowed seven runs and 12 hits over 4 1/3 innings. Ian Gibaut pitched two scoreless innings for his ninth save of the season.
Cron singled twice, driving in a run and also scoring one for the Generals.
Montgomery improved to 13-5 against Jackson this season.
