An 18-year-old Harrison man, Joshua A. Womack, was killed at 2 a.m. Thursday when he was hit by a car as he was sitting on Arkansas State Highway 43, according to a report from the Arkansas State Police.

Cpl. Billy M. Martin said in the report Womack was sitting in the southbound lane of the highway when a southbound vehicle struck Womack. Martin’s report does not name the driver of the 2001 Chevrolet that struck Womack.

At the time of the 2 a.m. accident, the skies were cloudy and the road was dry, according to the report.

Martin’s report does not indicate why authorities believe Womack was sitting in a travel lane of the highway.
