CRC Sports Week: News and Notes from Cosumnes River College | Sports – California News

Cosumnes River College hosted Lassen College Wednesday in the last preseason volleyball match for the Hawks this season. The Hawks defeated the Cougars three sets to none to take their seventh victory on the season. The game scores were 25-20, 25-16, 25-22.

“Our team has improved a lot from where we started,” Justine Busse, a sophomore defensive specialist, said. “I love being able to see the things that we focus on in practice translate into game action right away. We took things that we worked on yesterday and applied it in today’s game. I can’t wait to start season and feel the energy in the upcoming games that we will play,” love the support that we get from every member of our team.”

Upcoming: The Hawks look to start of conference play with a win against the visiting Pirates of Modesto Junior College on Friday. Last year, the Hawks defeated Modesto at home in the last home game of their season, and aspire to continue that trend. Game time will be 6:30pm with warm-ups starting at 5:30.

 Women’s Soccer

 PLEASANT HILL  – Cosumnes River started Big 8 Conference play Tuesday as they took on Diablo Valley College. The two teams played to a 1-1 draw.

In their last match, the Hawks lost 4-0 to Cerritos College in Sacramento on Sunday while the Vikings won 9-0 over Cabrillo College in Pleasant Hill on Friday.

In the first half, Diablo Valley got on the scoreboard first. Vanessa Ruvalcaba scored to give the Vikings a 1-0 lead. Alexis Brown had the only shot of the half for the Hawks but her shot was saved by…
