Man arrested in 2005 California cold case slaying – California News

SAN BERNARDINO, Calif. (AP) — More than a decade after a man was found shot to death in Southern California, cold case detectives arrested one of the last people to see the victim alive.

The San Bernardino Sun reports (http://bit.ly/2wrkw0Q ) detectives this week arrested Malachi Dawson on suspicion of murder in the November 2005 killing of Noel Cornelius. It wasn’t immediately known if Dawson has an attorney.

Authorities were not immediately able to ID the body after it was found in 2005 near Apple Valley.

Cornelius, who was reported missing in July 2006, was finally identified as the victim in June 2008.
