Coronado Island Film Festival (CIFF) mavens Mary Sikes and Doug St. Denis began raving about a performance they saw of Patricia Ward Kelly’s one-woman show, “Gene Kelly: The Legacy” months ago. So much so that they invited her to present the multi-media tribute to her late husband at the Second Annual Coronado Island Film Festival, which runs Nov. 9-12, 2017.
When the suggestion of a feature on Kelly first was posed, a quick personal mental computation settled on Kelly being in her 80’s since Gene was 83 when he died in 1996. My numbers were off by three decades, plus or minus, and my interview with the native of Ft. Collins, Colorado was a fast-paced and informative one, which would seemingly foreshadow a great performance of “Gene Kelly: The Legacy” during the CIFF on Saturday, Nov. 11. The site will be the Coronado School of the Arts Performing Arts Centre, with the performance time still to be determined.
Sikes said of Kelly, “Patricia is smart, charming, warm, and nice to work with. We’re very happy to have her here at the CIFF….
