Reports: Monroe police investigate armed bank robbery – Connecticut News

MONROE — Police investigated an armed robbery of a People’s Bank on Thursday evening, reports indicated.

Monroe police responded to People’s Bank at 435 Main St. around 6 p.m. for a report that the bank had been robbed by a male with a handgun, reports said. The suspect is said to have fled in the cab of a tractor trailer. It was unclear if he was the driver.

Monroe police contacted surrounding towns and asked them to issue BOLO alerts.

A dispatcher for the Bridgeport Police Department instructed officers to be on the lookout for the vehicle. The responsible was described to be a white male in his mid- to late-20s or early-30s with his right arm in a sling.

The Bridgeport police dispatcher reiterated a tractor trailer cab as the possible getaway car. The color of the cab was green and did not have an attached trailer, the dispatcher said.

No one was available to comment or confirm the reports at the Monroe Police Department late Thursday evening, a dispatcher said.
