Arizona has seen it all: record snow and rain, floods and drought, and the searing heat of summer.
A severe microburst that brought strong winds and rain near Page overturned two houseboats on Lake Powell Thursday along with other widespread damage, the Coconino County Sheriff’s Office said.
The National Weather Service in Flagstaff reported thunderstorms and strong winds in the Page and Lake Powell areas early in the afternoon.
Those storms moved through the Page area and adjacent Lake Powell, a popular recreational destination that straddles Arizona and Utah. Most of the lake is located in Utah.
Deputies have been responding to “multiple injuries” that have been reported and damage caused by the heavy rain and wind, the Sheriff’s Office said Thursday afternoon.
In addition to the two houseboats, the storm also sunk dozens of smaller boats and jet-skis, sheriff’s officials said.
The Sheriff’s Office said the most serious damages happened on the Utah side of the border.
