Trumbull man charged in hit-and-run incident – Connecticut News

WESTPORT — A Trumbull man rear-ended another vehicle and fled the scene, police said.

A motorist called Westport police around 6 a.m. on Sept. 6 about an accident on Wilton Road in which she claimed she was struck from behind by a black truck that then fled the scene without exchanging information.

Responding officers searched the area, eventually finding a man in the gas station parking lot at the intersection of Wilton Road and Newtown Turnpike, a short way from the scene of the accident, who was changing the front right tire on a black Chevrolet Silverado.

The man, who police identified as 30-year-old John D’Alesio of Trumbull, denied causing the accident, police said. However, as officers interrogated the suspect, they noted he changed his tale of the event several times.

Despite D’Alesio’s denials, officers managed to match the front-end damage on his vehicle to the damage on the victim’s vehicle.

D’Alesio was then placed under arrest and was charged with evading responsibility and following too closely. He was released on a $500 bond, and he was given a court date on Sept. 14.
