The city of Carlsbad is set to mark National Public Lands Day with a volunteer trail cleanup from 8:30 to 11:30 a.m. Sept. 30 at Calavera Preserve.
The city has nearly 50 miles of trails that preserve open spaces and offer residents a place to go hiking and biking.
Volunteer work will include vegetation trimming, trail erosion repairs, weed and litter removal, and other trail maintenance.
Staff will be on hand to provide information on the city’s trail system and assist with the trail cleanup.
Tools, water and light snacks will be provided. Volunteers should bring gloves and wear long pants, hats, sunscreen and closed-toe shoes. Registration is not required. Visit www.carlsbadca.gov/trails
