SANTA FE SPRINGS >> The 5 Freeway will be closed between Norwalk Boulevard and the 605 Freeway on Monday and Tuesday morning.
The closures come as a result of plans to remove woodwork and temporary bridge supports from the Florence Avenue bridge.
The freeway will be closed from 11:59 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday and 11:59 p.m. Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday.
In addition, the northbound and southbound connectors from the 605 to the 5 freeways will be closed from 9 p.m. Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday and from 9 p.m. Monday to 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The former four-lane bridge has been reduced to two lanes since March as part of a project to widen it to six lanes.
It’s part of the $1.8 billion, 6.7-mile 5 Freeway widening-project between the Orange County border and the 605 Freeway. The project will add a regular lane and a carpool lane to the existing six-lane freeway.
