An alleged con man from Malibu is in jail in Ventura … and there may be victims on this side of the hill.

A Malibu man is under arrest in Ventura County … and described by police as a “sophisticated con man” who may have other victims.
Cedric Frierson, 42, of Malibu, is now held on check fraud and identity theft allegations.
He was originally arrested in June by Ventura and Los Angeles County sheriff’s deputies.
He offered a check to get out on bail … it was a fraudulent cashier’s check … and it was back to jail for the Malibu man.
Police in Thousand Oaks say Frierson had used three counterfeit checks to obtain a 41 thousand dollar car at a dealership there.
Further investigation revealed Frierson had used bad checks at at various businesses in Los Angeles and Ventura counties, including three car dealerships.
Police over the hill also allege that Frierson had … and we quote “developed a sophisticated con man persona, along with a fraudulent real estate company.”
The company was called TVD Properties or The Valley Discount Properties … police say.
