Dreams become reality

Personal Trainer It’s 2:37 a.m. and as always God has put something on my mind to say.

My last few articles have been on my struggle and how I overcame them, along with some nutrition information. This one is going to be a little different, as well as difficult to write.

Here we go!

When was the last time you dreamed — and I mean really dreamed? Was it a month ago? Six months — or possibly 12 months?

I ask that question because I was in a situation where I thought life was perfect, so why dream? I was as high in life as I thought possible.

Well guess what… you stopped your ‘dreams.’

Wow! I said it. “You killed your future.”

Family, dreams are your future. Think back to Christmas… we make a wish list for Santa. Our parents will do all they can to make sure we get something on that list we wanted.

What is our favorite phrase as we open gifts? ‘Wow, this is exactly what I wanted!’ Where has that gone in our adult lives. I ask of each person reading this to start dreaming again, and most importantly, work towards your dreams. Be a kid again — make your wish list, then put on your “parent hat,” so you can make your inner kid’s dreams come true.

Weight loss, financial stability — whatever your dream is, make it come true. As a little boy I dreamed of being a bodybuilder. I was reminded constantly that I was fat. I dreamed of being a Marine and I was told I was fat.

Well, I have competed as a bodybuilder. In my weight loss journey, I have mentally made myself a “Marine at heart” by listening to their cadence while working out. It has taken me up until this morning to realize that what…
