Chamber of Commerce will give reception Saturday to soldier boys of Healdsburg
The Healdsburg Chamber of Commerce plans to honor the young men who are representing this community in the service of Uncle Sam. The first contingent of the drafted men are due to leave Healdsburg next week, it is said. The chamber of commerce is arranging to give the drafted men and all others of the young men who have gone out from this community to serve their country a reception on Saturday night of this week. It is proposed to have a few short addresses by local speakers from the stand in the Plaza, in connection with the usual Saturday night band concert. Following the band concert and addresses a dance will be given at the theater, at which the enlisted men of the Army and Navy will be honored guests. It is also planned to give each enlisted man a suitable button or other emblem as a souvenir of the event and as a testimonial of the appreciation of their home community for their patriotism and Ioyalty to their country.
