Jhang’s triple leads Altoona to 4-2 win over Trenton | Sports – California News

ALTOONA, Pa. (AP) — Jin-De Jhang hit a three-run triple in the fifth inning, leading the Altoona Curve to a 4-2 win over the Trenton Thunder on Thursday.

The triple by Jhang capped a four-run inning and gave the Curve a 4-2 lead after Jerrick Suiter drew a bases-loaded walk earlier in the inning.

In the top of the second, Trenton scored on a ground out by Zack Zehner that brought home Dante Bichette. In the following at-bat, Rashad Crawford hit an RBI double, driving in Nick Solak to give the Thunder a 2-0 lead.

Trenton missed a scoring opportunity in the eighth, when Bichette hit into a forceout with the bases loaded to end the inning.

Altoona right-hander Mitch Keller (4-2) picked up a quality start and the win after allowing two runs on four hits over 7 1/3 innings. Opposing starter Will Carter (4-2) took the loss in the Eastern League game after giving up four runs and six hits over 4 2/3 innings. Tate Scioneaux struck out the side for his 15th save of the season.
