Local man pleads guilty to child porn charges | News – California News

An Elk Grove man on Sept. 12 pleaded guilty in federal court to producing child pornography in a scheme where he blackmailed 12 minors.

The U.S. Attorney’s Office announced that defendant Alexander Jordan Miller, 21, now faces 15-30 years in prison, and a $250,000 fine.

Authorities arrested him this April after a federal grand jury determined that he committed the offenses in 2015.

The federal indictment stated that Miller targeted girls, ages 11-15, through social media and a smartphone messaging application. FBI investigators reported that he persuaded victims to take sexual photographs of themselves and then submit them to him.

Miller reportedly blackmailed the victims by threatening to forward their images to friends and family members if they did not give him more graphic photos and videos.

“Now everyone is getting every vid u ever sent to me parents and school (sic),” the defendant reportedly wrote to a 15-year-old victim.

Miller initially pleaded not guilty to charges that he produced child pornography and he called for a jury trial. The defendant’s case underwent a few status conferences this summer, and prosecutors filed audio recordings and nearly 5,000 pages of evidence against him, according to court records.

Miller changed his not guilty plea on Sept. 12. He will be sentenced in federal court on Jan. 9.
