Friends, family and former co-workers of Terry Ashe, gathered at the Paradise Parks and Recreation Department grounds to honor the former District Manager as a new sign was dedicated in his name.
Ashe was only the second ever district manager of PPRD, but held the title for over 30 years before retiring in 1995. Shortly after his retirement, PPRD’s facilities were renamed in his honor.
Ashe said that despite leaving the district he has maintained friendships with many of the people he worked with.
“I’m like a bad penny,” Ashe laughed, “I just keep showing up.”
Alongside his wife Mikki and his granddaughter Julia, Ashe pulled off the paper that was covering up the new sign. The large wood display drew cheers from the crowd and hangs from the building’s front entrance.
Reflecting on his years working to improve facilities and programs within the town, Ashe said,“I’ve always felt that we have to have a good attitude and earn the community’s trust.”
