Heisman trophy winner Tim Tebow will make his first visit to Albertville High School’s football stadium Wednesday evening, and tickets are available — free ones for high school and middle school students.
“Shine – A Night with Tim Tebow” was organized by Compassion City Church of Albertville, working with Excellent Events.
Jermaine Davis of Excellent Events said organizers contacted many area schools to let them know that free tickets would be made available — first to ninth- through 12th-graders, then to sixth- through eighth-grade students as well.
Those interested in tickets can register through the Compassion City Church Facebook page. There is a link posted on the page for students only to register for a free general admission ticket. Tickets can be printed out or shown on a mobile device at the gate. Davis said there will be a student gate and only students will be allowed in with free tickets.
Davis said organizers hope for a great turnout to hear an inspirational message from Tebow, who is as well known for his Christian beliefs as he is for his athletic skills, first on the football field and now as a baseball player with the New York Mets organization.
Tebow is an analyst with the SEC Network and contributes to a variety of ESPN platforms.
Davis said event organizers hit at a fortunate time and booked Tebow to speak; it might not be so easy now, as autumn is a busy time for him.
In addition to Tebow, who is slated to speak at 6:30 pm. Wednesday, Davis said hip-hop artist Canton Jones will perform as well.
