Walk for wine in the Village | Big Bear Now – California News

What? You haven’t gone on a Village wine walk yet? Well you’re in luck. You can wine and dine in the Village Saturday, Sept. 16. Just be sure to put on those walking shoes.

Hosted by the Village Business Association, the Village Fall Wine Walk is a fundraiser for the Big Bear Valley Education Trust, Halloween in the Village, Christmas in the Village, Fourth of July fireworks and high school scholarships. The event is from 3:30 to 7 p.m. in the Village area of Big Bear Lake.

The Village Business Association welcomes Classic Wines of California, Southern Wine and Spirits, Wilson Creek Winery, Joseph Filippi Winery and Vineyards, and many more as participants in the walk.

Participants check in at the Christmas Tree lot at the corner of Village Drive and Pine Knot Avenue in Big Bear Lake where they receive a commemorative wine glass, an event bag, a badge and wristband, and 12 wine tasting tickets. Twenty-eight businesses participate in the wine-tasting event. A map of the locations is included with the other goodies.

Food sampling at participating wine walk businesses is provided by Sonora Cantina, The Captain’s Anchorage, Stillwells Restaurant, Azteca Grill, The Bistro at the Knickerbocker Mansion, Sister My Sister Bake Shop and Sweet Basil Bistro.

The wine walk has grown from its first event in September 2009 with about 250 participants to more than 1,250 at the Summer Wine Walk this past June. A sell-out of the fall event is anticipated with up to 1,500 participants expected. For more information, visit
