Weekend Roundup: A sporting, giving kind of weekend – Colorado News

Whether you like to kick back in the recliner for the full weekend schedule of football or check out some sports closer to home, get a little philanthropic or a combination of both, you won’t have a shortage of events happening.

United we stand

On Friday, Moffat County United Way hosts $10K Day, a kickoff event for its annual campaign to benefit local nonprofits and organizations. The campaign for the organization, which aims to outdo its $450,000 raised last year, runs throughout the day at Craig’s Yampa Valley Bank.
When: 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. Friday

Junior high hijinks

Craig Middle School will host both home football and volleyball games Saturday for seventh- and eighth-grade teams.
Volleyball’s only event in its home gyms will be a four-team tournament that brings in Steamboat Springs, Rifle and Baggs, Wyoming, while outside, football squads will square off against the Meeker Cowboys.
When: Volleyball starts at 7 a.m., football at 9 a.m. Saturday
Where: CMS, 915 Yampa Ave., and Sandrock Elementary School, 201 E. Ninth St.
Cost: Admission $12 for a family, $5 for adults, $3 for students

Moffat County High School volleyball will take to the court Saturday for a home game against the Coal Ridge Titans of New Castle, which includes C-Team, JV and varsity games.
When: Starts at 2 p.m. Saturday
