Westport police: Resident charged for drug possession, sale – Connecticut News

WESTPORT — Police have charged a Westport resident for possessing and selling controlled substances after an extensive investigation, police said.

Josiah “JoJo” Alicea, 18, was charged with possession of a controlled substance, sale of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and risk of injury to a child.

In August, police received two anonymous tips that narcotics were being sold out of a residence on Saugatuck Avenue by a man known as “JoJo.” The Westport Detective Bureau launched an investigation and began surveillance on the home.

On three separate occasions, police said they found people leaving Alicea’s residence in possession of marijuana.

Police conducted a search warrant at the home on Sept. 15. When officer arrived, police said Alicea was found smoking marijuana in front of two juveniles. Detectives seized marijuana, scales, packaging materials, two BB guns and $1,246 in cash, police said.

Alicea was held on a $5,000 bond and is scheduled to appear in Norwalk Superior Court on Sept. 25.
